Calvin's Info...

Meet Calvin! This young Westie / Dachshund mix is really the whole package. He’s always ready to play! He loves fetch, tug-of-war, and finding hidden treats, but he's honestly up for any games you can think of. Once he has himself and his foster mom all tired out, he is the sweetest cuddler. He likes to lay completely on his back with all four feet in the air, so you can rub his belly as long as you like, and in return he will happily supply infinite kisses.

While Calvin can be an only dog, it would require his family to provide a lot of mental and physical exercise for him (a tired dog is a good dog after all). He would really love a high-energy playmate of similar size or bigger. If the playmate is smaller than him, we would recommend keeping a very close eye because his play style with other dogs is a little rough. He doesn’t mean to be rude, but his excitement does get the best of him sometimes.

Now let’s talk about kids – he LOVES them! When it comes to kids, he’s a perfect gentleman. He lives with a 2.5 year old little boy in his foster home and they are two peas in a pod! He’s also met other kids of all shapes and sizes both in his foster home and out in public, and he does great with all of them. He’s instantly comfortable around kids, and he’s happy to just let them pet him, or to gently play with them. Even in the brief instances during supervised play where his foster mom sees her toddler not being the most polite with him (which is instantly corrected), Calvin is never offended or put-off.

Calvin is officially 100% potty trained! He rides great in a car and sleeps all through the night in his crate. He does cry a little when his family first leaves the house but settles in his crate quickly. Calvin is super people oriented and learned how to sit on command in one short training session because he just wants to please his person more than anything else.

Calvin is ready for a family to call his own, and we think that family is going to be so incredibly lucky to have him.

***Please note: All dogs are fostered in private homes of volunteers, so to meet a dog please fill out an Adoption Application so we may setup a private meetup with the dog or coordinate for an Introduction at the next general Adoption Meet and Greet, as not all dogs come to all Meet and Greets***
