Dog's Info...

Meet Bo: This gorgeous Portuguese Water Dog came to us when his owner passed away and his family was not in a position to care for him. Bo is 10 years old, a pure bred Portuguese and a bit overweight, but is doing very well on his new reduced diet and dropping the excess pounds. He is gaining mobility in his foster home as his excess weight and lack of back leg muscles indicate that he's been this size for a while. Bo LOVES his people and follows them around as closely as he can. He is great with other dogs or all sizes and is fully house and crate trained, although he minds his manners so well that he rarely spends time in his crate. Bo is great around kids as well.

He obviously likes to eat and will likely steal food if given the opportunity, although is size prevents him from jumping up on counters. He does well at the groomer but does not like being left in a crate unattended. He carries most of his weight on and past his behind, doctors have concluded that his bump is benign and will shrink with weight loss, but it may not disappear completely.

Bo is looking for a moderately active family - with or without kids, with or without another dog - who can continue his weight loss journey and gently increase his exercise to rebuilt some of his muscles. He does not like being alone and is looking for someone to spend his day with. As a Portuguese Water Dog he does not shed much and can be considered hypoallergenic.

***Please note: All dogs are fostered in private homes of volunteers, so to meet a dog please fill out an Adoption Application so we may setup a private meetup with the dog or coordinate for an Introduction at the next general Adoption Meet and Greet , as not all dogs come to all Meet and Greets***
