This is Suzanne, I adopted Casper - a white boxer- in January of 1999. I know you remember him because he is one of the sweetest, friendliest, & smartest dogs I have ever met. Our family has become really attached to him and vice versa. You should see him! He is just beautiful! We take him to the park with us on weekends and we go walking about 4 times a week on various walking paths- people everywhere stop and admire him. He has filled out nicely and has great muscle tone and a beautiful shiny coat. He is a very happy dog and he is so smart! He is so well behaved and has such a wonderful disposition. We have never known a dog to be so wonderful.
My son, Freddy, just loves his friend Casper. They have a very strong bond and play great together. If you ever need an example of the perfect match please feel free to use us! Casper added a tremendous amount of love to our lives- I don't what we'd do without him.
Thanks TWYLA'S FRIENDS, your organization makes a great difference in the lives of many, many people and dogs.
Sincerely and with much gratitude, Suzanne, Freddy and Casper
Hi Diane,
Just a quick note to thank you for your follow-up call and to share a couple of funnies about Valentine.
She has quite a tender soul. Doesn't like to be corrected much at all and makes the most sour expression (for quite a long time). She loves to put both feet in her water bowl - a leftover from the baby pool water dish?? :-)
We have kept up the crate training, but she is already spoiled enough that we have to bribe her with a biscuit to get her in. As long as there's no action, she is fine, but if she can hear us, she cries and claws the gate.
She is pretty well house trained, but has had a couple of accidents, which she is very remorseful about. No harm done.
So far I have been able to keep Bruce from feeding her table food. He feels like he is depriving her, but I want to keep up the good work you did in getting her back into shape. She is good on a leash and loves her walks.
Guess the most interesting news for me is that she seems to be a lady's dog. She likes Bruce, but I have become her first love. I think because she was attached to you. She thrives on attention and is quite loving. She is good company for me working at home.
We introduced her to our friend Nancy's dog Midnight. She snarled a bit, but I think we can desensitize her and she and Midnight will become maybe not best of buddies but at least tolerable. Bruce and I took the two of them for a joint walk without mishap.
Sending you all of our best wishes. I so much admire what you do. You're a very special person to care so much. Thanks for bringing Valentine into our lives.
Be well, Maureen & Bruce
Hi Twyla,
Newt here! I just wanted to bark "thank you", for doing such a wonderful job on your Web site and also promoting responsible pet ownership. The dogs that you have rescued are truly fortunate to have someone or many someones in Kingwood who are committed to saving their lives. In recognition of "Twyla's Friends", I would like to award your Web site Newt's "Because You Care Award." This award is only for Web sites that fight against animal cruelty and provide much needed rescue services. Thank you again for doing an excellent job on your Web site. It warms the heart to know soooo many doggies in Kingwood got another chance to find a new family to love them.
The award is attached. If you so desire it may be linked back to my page called "Welcome To Newt's Page", found in my signature. The link is not required. :)
Woof at ya later!
